Available Positions
Senior AI and back-end engineer
Arkus AI is on a mission to revolutionise precision medicine through intelligent, AI-powered technologies. We are building autonomous AI agents and a robust AI agent platform to support clinicians, researchers, and healthcare administrators in solving some of the most complex challenges in medicine.
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer who combines deep AI/LLM expertise with strong back-end engineering skills. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in the development of both the AI agents and platform infrastructure for the demands of real-world healthcare applications.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and deploy intelligent AI agents capable of autonomous task execution, reasoning, and interaction
- Architect and develop the AI agent platform, including APIs, orchestration logic, memory systems, and tool integrations
- Build and maintain robust back-end services, databases, and cloud infrastructure supporting real-time AI operations.
- Implement LLM-driven capabilities using APIs or open-source models, enabling agents to interact with external systems and healthcare data.
- Develop scalable, secure, and maintainable systems with a focus on performance, privacy, and compliance.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team-wide standards and practices.
- Build and improve RESTful APIs.
- Design and manage databases (SQL).
- Write unit and integration tests.
- Lead junior developers
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in software or AI engineering, with a track record of building production-grade AI and back-end systems
- Deep understanding of LLMs, agent architectures, and frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGPT, or similar
- Strong programming skills in Python for AI, and Node.js/TypeScript or similar for back-end development
- Experience designing and deploying RESTful APIs, managing SQL/NoSQL databases, and working with event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
- Strong experience with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone) and retrieval frameworks
- Bonus: Experience in healthcare systems (e.g., FHIR, EHRs) or regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA/GDPR compliance)
- Ability to balance hands-on coding with system design and architectural planning
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Why Join Arkus AI?
- Help shape the future of AI agents in healthcare.
- Work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of AI and system engineering.
- Join a fast-moving, mission-driven team with real clinical impact
- Competitive salary, equity, and hybrid work flexibility
